Long time, no post...

Happy New Year!!! 2006 was brought in with a bang at the Iron Post here
in Urbana. Thanks for all who rocked on and off stage. Sorry for the lack
of updates on our site. We've just updated the shows page and we're off
on a mini-midwest tour later this month. We'll be seeing you in St. Louis,
Chicago, Des Moines, and Milwaukee! Also, check out our MySpace
page for updated info on shows. Hope to see you soon!
Off to London again...

Our apologies for the lack of communication on the news page. We wanted
to thank all those who have attend our recent shows in the C-U area. We
have new t-shirts with the smoking bunny logo (they're HOTTT!). Also,
a couple of singles were released on Shoeshine/Snapper Music the last
couple of months, and we're heading back to London next week for a few
gigs. Check out the shows page and our MySpace
page and the Snapper

Back in town/Music video/Upcoming shows

We got back safely from the UK (after a couple cancelled flights), and
we've got many shows scheduled in the C-U area. Check out the "shows"
link. Also, our new music video for "A Desperate Cry for Help"
is complete. Nathan did an awesome job of capturing all parts of the party
(the performances, grilling food, keg stands, more drinking, ice cream
eating, dancing, fireworks, etc.). We can't wait for everyone to see it.
We have a show this Sunday, so come out to the Cowboy Monkey!

We played 3 gigs so far and we've got 2 more left. The shows have been
going well so far. The Echo and The Bunneymen/Fun Lovin' Criminals show
was quite strange, but it went okay. In other news, we have met up with
some of the folks from Snapper Music, and they have been a blast to hang
out with. Hot Corn! It's our day off today, so we're doing some exploring
around the city. More soon...those of you in Champaign, keep an eye on
the upcoming shows back home.

The Beauty Shop will be taking a little trip to the UK to play some shows
in Musselburgh (near Edinburgh), Glasgow, and London starting Friday,
August 5th. Check out our shows page for more details (don't forget to
check out the entire list of shows). In other news, we have officially
been licensed over to Snapper Music. Shoeshine Records has been very supportive
and we are all happy about this next move. We will continue to work with
our good friend Francis Macdonald of Shoeshine Records/Teenage Fanclub.
There will be a release of a hybrid album (which will include songs from
the first 2 albums)called "Yard Sale" on Snapper Music in the
UK. There will be many more updates in the coming weeks.

Monkey show

Thank you to all who came out to the Cowboy Monkey gig. It was our first
official show with Ben ("Creecher") and he did an awesome job.
The new songs went over well, we think...John did an impressive job of
extracting the new song lyrics too. He says it's like rapping. It's all
about applying yourself, I guess. Keep yourself posted with upcoming shows.
Things are a little out of order on the shows page, so make sure to check
out the full list and keep an eye on the dates. Thanks again for all the
support in the C-U area. There's nothing like playing for your hometown
crowd. Big ups to you all!!!

A big thank you to all of you who attended our party/video shoot. Thanks
for being such good participants and doing such a great job drinking and
having a good time. It was a little contrived-feeling at the beginning,
but as people loosened up, it seemed like the initial weirdness went away.
Thanks to Nathan and Sean for filming...we can't wait to see the finished
product. Pictures of the event will be up shortly, so check out the photo

Everyone is invited to our video shoot/kegger on July 3rd. Check out the

tons of people out, so free up your Sunday evening and have beers with
The Beauty Shop. We'll be debuting our new drummer Ben, locally known
as Creecher. We have some new songs to test on you too. We have recently

So it's been settled...The Beauty Shop will be filming another music video
with Nathan Gulick running the show. The location will be at our good
friend Tristan's farmhouse. Remember, the concept is rap video, and the
beer is PBR. Check out the forum for details. Big ups to Tristan for letting
us throw a party at his place for the video...so, if you want to be an
extra, keep Sunday, July 3rd available. It will definitely be a rad event!

There's talk of The Beauty Shop working on another video this summer .

Tonight, Feb. 17th, John will be playing solo at the Courtyard Cafe in
the Univ. of IL student Union. He will be opening up for The Living Blue.

Thanks so much to everyone who packed into Nargile on Friday. It was a
really fun show! Thanks also to Triple Whip, Emotional Rec Club and The

We wanted to thank everyone for attending the Cowboy Monkey gig last Friday.
It was a busy Friday in C-U, and we were happy to see so many people at
our show! We couldn't believe that y'all filled up the place to capacity.
Hot corn! Our next show at Nargile (Champaign, IL) with our friends The
Living Blue and Triple Whip will be in a couple of weeks. The venue is
small, so get there early!

Check out the FORUM link of our website. John is going through the UK
tour gig-by-gig...he's done a great job remembering the crazy/funny stories
and cool people we met along the way. Thanks to everyone who attended
the Highdive show. It was a great benefit show with rockin' bands and
a loving audience. Stay tuned to new photos and more UK tour stories.
Back in C-U

Sorry for the lack of posts during the UK tour. We weren't able to hit
as many internet cafes as we thought. Overall, the shows went well and
we met a bunch of great people along the way. We successfully got ourselves
to all gigs and radio sessions despite the lack of street signs and all
the roundabouts. I think that highlights of the tour will be posted in
the forum section. Stay tuned to highlights and to new pictures that will
soon to be on the site. Don't forget about the benefit show this Thursday,
Dec. 9th for the Shawna Morrisson Education Fund. We will be playing with
Headlights and The Blackouts.

We've successfully made it to Manchester after a crazy night of driving
back and forth from Leeds...who knew that there is a big football game
here? We didn't really fancy a bit of sport last night. We're playing
in Manchester tonight and then off to London the next couple of days for
shows, interviews, etc. Thanks to all the folks who made it to the UK
shows so far. We're trying to represent C-U well. Hot corn!

So far, so good with the first time driving on the other side of the road.
Things have been going well so far and more updates will follow. Big thanks

A big thanks to those who attended the Cowboy Monkey show last Tuesday!
The T-shirts were ready just in time to sell after the gig (Thank you,
Karl Bauer!). T-shirts will be on sale at every live show (US and UK).
For those in the UK, keep an eye out for our arrival later this month.

The Beauty Shop will be playing at the Cowboy Monkey on Tuesday, November
9th. Catch the last Champaign show before the band is off to the UK to
promote the release of "Crisis Helpline." Also, we are planning
on having some T-shirts to sell at our next show...(sorry, we're not selling
"Crisis Helpline" in the U.S. yet)!

"Crisis Helpline" has been officially released in the UK, and
our November trip to the UK is coming together. We have finally seen the
music videos that we were anxiously awaiting, and we were really happy
with how they turned out. The "Monster" video will be on the
website soon, so stay tuned. For those of you in C-U, we will be opening
up for Headlights and Magnolia Electric Co. on Saturday, October 16th
at Caffe Paradiso (Urbana, IL). The show starts at 9 P.M. (Cover $10).
Also, check out Shoeshine Records for more news regarding "Crisis
Helpline" and the UK tour.

27th. Also, the single "Monster" (available in CD or 7-inch

The Highdive show

A big thank you to those of you who were able to make it to the Highdive
"must see" show last Sunday. Way to represent on a Sunday night!
It had been much too long since we've played on a bill with our friends
(who also happen to be talented musicians). The Situation, Headlights,
and The Blackouts were all brilliant. Pictures from the show and from
a little after hours with The Blackouts kids will be in the photo album
soon. So we'll be off of the live shows for at least a month. Brett is
going on a tour with Headlights (have an awesome trip, guys!), while John
job searches and Ariane begins another year in grad school. The fun doesn't
stop here : ). Keep up with the website, and we'll be adding more hilarious
stories that have to do with the UK release of "Crisis Helpline".
Also, if you've seen that "Monster" video, let's hear what you
think (we still haven't seen it).

We got news that the music video for our single "Monster" will
be played on VH2's Americana show and MTV2's 120 Minutes (Europe only).
If you happen to see the video, send us an email and let us know what

The band made it back to Champaign safely. Our "cook-a-loo"
tour went well. Thanks again to those of you who came out to the London
shows! We had a good time, and we're excited to get back to the UK this
November. We've only got one Champaign show scheduled on Sunday, August
29th at the Highdive with Brett's other band Headlights and our friends
The Blackouts. We hope to see you there!!!
